I saw my first lightning bug of the summer last night. I have been documenting these first sightings for awhile now. I don't know what I expect to do with this knowledge, but I save the calendars with my nature observations anyway. While searching through Google images for lightning bugs, I came across this blog.
And this drawing...

The blogger, one Margaret Huber, draws on her train ticket from London to Brighton everyday. I really like this art concept.

Found a yellow wild pansy in my yard. Pulled it up by the roots before my husband mowed over it. Put it in water. Keeps blooming!
I think I'm getting pretty good at identifying plants. My first guess was right--which was based on the flower scene from Disney's "Alice in Wonderland."

Fantastic Flowers!
Lightning bugs -- yes! We need more!
Froodus: A foolish trip that could have been avoided.
I really like the way you interact with nature. You record your lightning bug sightings, and collect all kinds of rocks, twigs, bones, seeds, pods, etc.. I would like to be more in tune with the natural world.
Love these drawings of the lightning bugs. This reminds me that I could be making little drawings like this, just to please myself. It's the little things I wish I were doing more of.
You really do have a knack for knowing your plants and flowers. It amazes me that you identified these from seeing them on a Disney movie! I never even pay attention to the flowers on Disney movies. : (
Nature grounds me--pun not and intended.
I like all of the ticket drawings--check them out when you get a chance--exactly--makes me feel like drawing too.
It's kind of an obsession with the plants and flowers. I get a little feverish about it.
The flowers are sort of a big scene in the movie--they have a song. My sisters and I used to sing it. "You can learn a lot of things from the Flowers..." I was so amazed at the detailed human characteristics that Disney gave to the flowers.
I think it's cool to have an obsession with plants and flowers.
What you said about them grounding you is what I keep reading in metaphysical and energy healing books. They always say that if you need to be more grounded, spend time working with the earth, or with plants and flowers.
I will look at the ticket drawings!
That's cool about grounding. It sounds strange, but that's one of the reasons I chose to get my B.A. in Environmental Science.
