Cicada Summer Solstice
Yep, just heard my first cicada song of the year.
In other insect news:
I caught two caterpillars munching on my little Juneberry tree (one yesterday and one today). I put them in an old pickle jar. I will let you know the ID as soon as they emerge from their yet-to-be-made pupas. I know you all are on pins and needles. :)
Happy Summer Solstice! Enjoy the longest day! ~A

Observations
I have seen about 7 leopard slugs so far, but have you noticed how big the snails are this year? Huge shells and virile foots. I wonder if geologists can tell periods of heavy rain by the size of the shells in outcrops. This has been another deep thought by Crack Andy.

Last night, encountered toad in garden, yes, was emitted upon--big time.
Nevermind the consequences, will continue to pick up toads.

Instant Kamera
My day is now complete.
I managed to capture both light and dark in an instant.
The pics aren't great, yet I still wanted to display the contrast.
A flash of sunlight and then it was gone, not to be photographed a second time.
The darkness descended but for just a moment, my camera would not produce the same image again.
Coincidence? I think not. I needed a yin yang day. Boom, kid, Boom!
