Lord Love a Duck
Tuesday Weld getting what she wants.
I love the description of this 1966 movie on the cable guide:
A California highschool genius (Roddy McDowall) works magic for a blond (Tuesday Weld) who wants cashmere and affection.
Ahhh, 1966.....

LOVE SLUG!
What a perfect way to try to resurrect a dying blog than to post slugs having sex! I tried to get it on video, but my camera kept dying. Out of the head of each slug grew translucent-blue ectoplasmic tendrils that were tightly intertwined. The two pulsating jellyfish tongues ebbed and waned as the twisted slugs swung by a spun slime rope. Enjoy! Apologies for the long wait. Thanks for stopping by! ~Andi

Old story ideas
Because I have nothing new in my head right now...
This is based on something my friend, kt, came up with:
It sits upon a hill. It is there because the school house before it sat there. How I would dream that we actually lived in the old school house. Built in 1909; Burned down in 1947. The charm of the wooden school house with its boxy bronze bell tower is more significant than the flat local limestone brick new age modern grammar school that took its place. I know that the bell is bronze because it's sitting in Mabel's Museum located in one of the old classrooms.
Mabel refurbishes things. She found the first of them in our basement. The old bronze bell, the photos from the past, old ink wells, a slightly charred globe, etc. She's set up a museum to the history of our home. She is much older than us. Mom had her when she was 3 days shy of her 15th birthday. Now, don't go thinking that we are a bunch of hillbillies. Mabel was brought here in an attempt to save a life. Our mother grew up in the mountains. She and her childhood friend, Marvin Maybee were trapped after an avalanche. The only way the two saw fit to survive was to create heat with their bodies. As much younger children they explored each others bodies in games of doctor and house, so it was fitting that their first sexual experience was to be with each other, well that's what mom always says. But it was their last. Well, it was Marvin Maybee's last. He didn't die a virgin and he managed to keep the Maybee bloodline going. This was very important to his parents for Marvin was to be the last surviving Maybee. Now Mabel Zircon Maybee is the last surviving Maybee. Zircon is the mountain on which she was conceived.
As I was saying, our house sits on a hill and as you may have surmised, we live in an old grammar school. You know that Mabel and I like old things. I dream of the past and Mabel resurrects it. I'm not sure if Mabel knows it, but she creates my perfect environment. I spend hours in her museum pretending to live in the past.
As a matter of fact, I'm sitting on a rug Mabel found in the grounds keeper's shed imagining being read a story whilst sitting by the pot belly stove. Well, I'm trying to concentrate on that, but I keep looking at one of Mabel's recent acquisitions, I'm not sure what it was used for--oh, here comes Mabel--she's carrying something.
"Fauna, what are you doing?"
She knows what I'm doing, so I won't answer, but "What did you find Mabel?"
"I'm not sure yet, I need to study it further."

teardrop
I'm completely fried for curiosities and imagination. I almost had a stream, but it got shut off somehow...I know it will come back, but for now, enjoy this picture of a trailer that is on my wish list. I think I crave a nomad lifestyle. Have a great weekend!
I like this quote from the movie, Club Dread:

drunk off the world
I'm a little drunk off Boulevard Double IPA and an extremely dirty martini, but I thought I'd actually post some worthy information: After a year and nearly 3 months I am permanently employed!!!!
Yeah, I celebrated with a couple of drinks, so what? :) I'm feeling so happy right now! I had the best meal and the best drive along Wornall home. I must share with you that I love the Waldo buildings along Wornall--some are shitty and some are so charming! I love the contrast. My late grandfather grew up around there... I really feel like rambling, so just let me do it okay?
My stargazer lilies have bloomed. I have some pictures, but I can't seem to capture them like I want. I will post them as soon as I download them from my camera. Maybe I need to wait until next year to really feel the essence of them, for now I will just experience their beauty in real time and not try to capture the shit out of them.
My little sister got married last weekend, it was a blast! She and her husband were so happy and man, can they dance! What else? Oh yeah, went to Seattle to see my husband's mom and sister. Had an absolutely lovely time--saw my main man Ichiro get whooped by the Royals--the Royals! I was lucky enough to see Mt. Rainier on my last day!!
Okay, running out of juice. Gonna let you all be. I hope I will get back to regular blogging soon. Thanks for reading.
Peace out.
P.S. I'm digging the new Ariel Pink album....just sayin. -Out.

Cicada Summer Solstice
Yep, just heard my first cicada song of the year.
In other insect news:
I caught two caterpillars munching on my little Juneberry tree (one yesterday and one today). I put them in an old pickle jar. I will let you know the ID as soon as they emerge from their yet-to-be-made pupas. I know you all are on pins and needles. :)
Happy Summer Solstice! Enjoy the longest day! ~A

Observations
I have seen about 7 leopard slugs so far, but have you noticed how big the snails are this year? Huge shells and virile foots. I wonder if geologists can tell periods of heavy rain by the size of the shells in outcrops. This has been another deep thought by Crack Andy.

Observations
June 2nd, first lightning bug sighting.
Last night, encountered toad in garden, yes, was emitted upon--big time.
Nevermind the consequences, will continue to pick up toads.

Instant Kamera
My day is now complete.
I managed to capture both light and dark in an instant.
The pics aren't great, yet I still wanted to display the contrast.
A flash of sunlight and then it was gone, not to be photographed a second time.
The darkness descended but for just a moment, my camera would not produce the same image again.
Coincidence? I think not. I needed a yin yang day. Boom, kid, Boom!

Mushroom Jesus
My friend Julie gave me this zine called, Radical Mycology. It's really really awesome. Here's a link to check it out yourself: www.RadicalMycology.Wordpress.com. Page 35 from Ed 1.1, 2010 has a joke section, this one is my favorite:
Q/How can you tell when you're turning into Mushroom Jesus?
A/You get sterigmata on your hands and feet.
I wonder, though, would I be able to tell if I was turning into Mushroom Jesus? Would you? How can YOU tell if you're turning into Mushroom Jesus?

Great night
slick green alligator body shining in the evening sun
this visual makes my liver happy
I picture my liver to be green
Do you do that?
You know, think of each organ in colors?
Pancreas is yellow
Stomach is pink
Heart is red
Kidneys deep fuschia
All probably absorbed from an anatomy book
If you comment: What colors do you identify with your organs?
I watched Real Genius last night. I forgot how much I like that movie. It has all the nice pieces that create a film loved my me: Science, Val Kilmer, Illusive genius that lives in the closet with a secret passageway, Michelle Meyrink hair, 80s music.

Happy May Day!
The Texas Flame Parrot, my last tulip of the season.
What will I do for May Day, you ask?
Download CDs, Create Playlists for a couple of May babies, laundry, vacuum, wash dog. All while listening to one of the May baby's playlist: Atomic [Blondie], For Reverend Green [Animal Collective], Artifact [Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti], Commando [Ramones], Hurdy Gurdy Man [Donovan], Three Hours [Nick Drake], Fascination Street [The Cure]...and many, many more--I think this one is going to be a double disk. It's called Quarter of a Century Riot (this May baby is turning 25). I was thinking about making one of the disks look like a quarter and the other look like a penny (CENTury-der!). Enjoy your day! ~A

This light was rad!
Same light from Sunday.
I think these photos probably have too much light, however, is it just me or do these images rival with visuals on an acid trip?
Apparently, in the spring time my blog turns into a photoblog. Oh well, not much to say right now. I'm zoned out a bit, but I'm not trippin' on it. One of my readers says this is a good time to mine :) --and perhaps finish something??? Hmmm...
Enjoy the flora!

Flowers! For me?
I do declare! It's Spring! Seeing all the green peaking out after a storm left me to understand the Spring/Sex thing. I get it. Not so much in words, but in just knowing. On the verge of explosion maybe? ;) Anyways, I leave you to it, whatever it is you do. Have a lovely Saturday! I'm going to plant more flowers.

Sit and Stare
I heard this song whilst driving home from Houston. After it was over I had to know who sang it. Neil Sedaka?! For someone born in 1976, his success is foggy to me and I thought he was the type of singer in the realm of Paul Anka. Not the guy who sung "Calendar Girl" or "Breaking up is Hard to Do" (a song which I erroneously thought was Everly Bros.--whom I love) This song put me in a delightful trance (or was it the road?) and has given me an appreciation for good ol' Neil. I like his slightly feminine voice. I like the intertwining of Elton's and Neil's voice in the chorus of "Bad Blood". I simply can't get it out of my mind. At least, until the next Periodical Curiosity episode arises. I hope you enjoy. This video is brought you by YouTube, a sim-u-lation treat!
Speaking of Simulation, here's a thought,
He works as hard as he ever did when he had his life to live. All the bells and whistles. Spying on himself. Yes, it was definitely much easier living his own life. Vicarious living. Simulation fix. "Sit at home and watch your life unfold!" A jingle from the future. Spend your life in a room with a computer doing your best to create a perfect life for yourself, or your robot, rather. How many women had his robot defiled? Did they even know? For that matter, how many robots had his robot had? How many robots are out there, how many humans are simulating their lives? It doesn't get much reality tv than that! How exciting to watch yourself out there with the people. Reacting how you would in real life, but more thoughtful or thought out because there are no worries of appearance, for your robot is impeccable. He moves through crowds as if hovering above ground (which he does), knows all the right things to say, is slippery and buoyant under pressure, and has a magnetizing way with the ladies (which he does). Perfect in every way--sweet breath and no sweat glands. All he (the man, not the robot) had to do was make decisions. His periphery was expanded by 360 degrees due to the cameras in his robot's body and a simple installation of a circular computer monitor.....gah! Another idea for a story to work on...I need to focus and juggle my ideas responsibly. Easier said than done. I thought of this story idea a few miles from the Watagorda Bay...clumsy segue...
Last weekend I went to my husband's family's bay house in Sargent, TX. The stilted(!) home is on the brackish waters of Caney creek, an inlet of Watagorda Bay. While Nate hovered on a boat across the waters of the Intercoastal Waterway to wade fish in the east bay, I relaxed with our dog Winston. I took pictures, walked down to the private pier (no docks due to the tide shift), read and enjoyed a healthy helping of the sit and stare. Here, Sit and Stare at these:
