Grackle time
in my city
Grackle time
Grackle time
in my backyard
a plague of grackles descend on my lawn
with oil slick plumage and dinosaur calls
I identify with their boat tails
I identify with their sharp gales
staring at me like I'm Tippi Hedren
hoping I don't end up like Suzanne Pleshette
I wonder about their brain pans
I stand there looking deadpan
what is their plan?
what is their plan?!
Grackle time
Grackle time
in my city
Grackle time
Grackle time
in my backyard
the plague takes over the feeder
